Search and Property Analysis of Young Stellar Objects in the Star-forming Region IC 5146

  • The identification of young stellar objects in star-forming regions is essential for a comprehensive understanding of the star formation process. In this study, Gaia astrometric data are used to identify and analyze young stellar objects in the IC 5146 star-forming region. Firstly, the known YSO (Young Stellar Object) candidates in the region are examined using Gaia astrometric data, and 181 of them are confirmed to be reliable member stars. Based on the parallax and proper motion of these 181 confirmed stars, combined with the color-magnitude diagrams, further systematic searches are conducted in the sky region covering IC 5146, and a total of 290 member star candidates are found, of which 167 are known member stars and 123 are newly discovered member star candidates. Compared with the known member stars, the newly identified member star candidates are of comparable age (both 1 million years old), but have a lower proportion of circumstellar disks (10% v.s. 41%) and a lower proportion of light variables (15% v.s. 51%). In terms of spatial distribution, the known member stars are predominantly clustered, whereas the newly identified member candidates are scattered, reflecting the existence of both cluster-forming and isolation-forming star-forming modes in the star-forming region IC 5146.
